About mp3 files
MP3 is the lossy audio format that made digital music portable. It discards sounds that are hard to hear to keep files small; at 320 kbps, a minute is about 2.4 MB, and at 128 kbps about 1 MB. MP3 plays on virtually everything, from phones and car stereos to smart speakers, and stores ID3 tags for title, artist, album and cover art.
MP3s are sent by DJs sharing sets, podcasters distributing episodes to co-hosts, musicians sending rough mixes for feedback, and people moving music libraries or audiobooks between devices.

Why sending mp3 files is often a pain
Single MP3s are small, but whole libraries, long DJ sets and audiobook collections add up to many gigabytes. Chat apps may display MP3s as voice messages or re-encode them, and re-encoding a lossy file makes quality worse. Copying music to an iPhone is awkward because it doesn't expose a simple music folder like Android does.
How to send mp3 files with Sendryo
- Open Sendryo on the device that has the mp3 files. Use any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox or Samsung Internet. Nothing to install.
- Add your mp3 files. Drag and drop, tap to choose, or pick a whole folder. Add as many files as you like.
- Share the 6-digit code. Tap “Get share code”, then share the code, link or QR code with the receiver.
- The receiver enters the code. Files stream directly to their device, encrypted and at original quality. They save each file or download everything as a ZIP.

Tips for sending mp3 files
- Never convert an MP3 to another lossy format and back; each re-encode loses quality. Send the original file.
- Check that ID3 tags and cover art are filled in before sending a library; they travel inside the file.
- On iPhone, received MP3s go to the Files app and play there; adding them to Apple Music requires a computer sync.
- Only share music you have the right to share, such as your own recordings or files licensed for it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I send MP3 files from my computer to my phone?
Open sendryo.com on both devices, add the MP3s or a whole folder on the computer and enter the code on the phone. On Android, files land in Downloads where music apps can find them. On iPhone, they save to Files and can be played from there or in apps like VLC.
Will the tags and album art be preserved?
Yes. ID3 tags, including title, artist, album, track number and embedded artwork, are stored inside the MP3 file, and Sendryo transfers files unchanged. If artwork is missing on arrival, it was probably stored as a separate image in the folder rather than embedded.
Can I send an entire music folder?
Yes. Add the folder and its structure, such as artist and album subfolders, is kept. Large libraries can take a while, so a shared Wi-Fi network helps. The receiver can save individual files or download everything as a ZIP. Check the phone's free storage before sending a big collection.
Is there a size limit for sending mp3 files?
No limit is set by Sendryo. Because the files go straight to the other device, the only limit is the receiver’s free storage. Very large transfers work best on a computer.
